Do you remember the song, “Roll with the Changes” by REO Speedwagon?

With the shifting landscape of life it often enters my mind these days. There’s an energy in that song—an insistence, a rhythm—that feels especially relevant right now. It’s not just about going with the flow. It’s about meeting life where it is, even when it feels uncertain, and trusting that something meaningful is unfolding.

Side note: REO Speedwagon was actually the very first concert I ever attended (with my family when I was in 8th grade.) 😊

We Are Living in a Time of Profound Change

There’s no denying it—we are in a moment of both excitement and instability.

From a spiritual and energetic perspective, we are in a powerful cycle of transformation. The astrology and energetic patterns ahead point to a dismantling of systems that no longer serve the collective—structures that may have once provided stability, but are now limiting growth, equity, and authentic expression. What systems do you see on shaky ground?

  • I’m seeing it in our Western medical system as more and more people come to me for bioenergetic testing and Reiki, seeking new modalities for illnesses their doctor cannot seem to figure out.
  • I witness it in our economy that continues to see rising costs and the erosion of the middle class.
  • We’ve been seeing it in our religious systems that not only have had scandals, but a decline in attendance as people realize that some places of worship do not accept all people as they are.
  • We are even seeing it now from non-religious spiritual leaders including the recent news about Deepak Chopra, a long-time guru in the alternative spirituality realm.
  • More and more people are seeing the influence of the Industrial Military Complex as the United States is embroiled in yet another war.

This can feel unsettling. Even chaotic at times.

But it is also rich with possibility.

Old systems are not falling apart without purpose—they are making space for something more aligned, more conscious, and more supportive of humanity as a whole.

The question becomes:

Are you ready to roll with the changes?

What new, more supportive and fair systems do you want to help build?

Take heart, I am seeing exciting new structures being offered that give us a glimmer of hope.

  • Through the Whitewater Grocery Co., we are working together to bring a food co-op to my town, Whitewater, Wisconsin. This will help fill the need for more organic produce and healthier meal options.
  • I recently joined Function Health after a very expensive, yet non-informative trip to the doctor. Function Health offers an amazingly comprehensive, affordable subscription to labs such as blood tests and MRIs.  It offers insights on each lab so that you can take the results to your health care provider with more information and confidence. You can get $50 off your first year by using this link here.
  • I also recently enrolled in Impact Health Sharing to replace my health care insurance. I am saving a ton of money and getting premium credits for taking care of my health through massages, visits to see my naturopath, and supplement purchases. (If you are interested, I can refer you to my contact. Madeline does a great job of explaining all of the benefits and risks of making the switch.)

A quote by Socrates

The Root of Suffering: Resistance to Change

Before we talk about how to roll with change, it’s important to name something deeper.

What is the single greatest cause of suffering in the human experience?

Resistance to what is.

When we resist change—when we cling to how things should be instead of accepting how they are—we create friction. That friction often turns into stress, anxiety, frustration, and even despair.

Resistance has a way of:

  • Amplifying what we don’t want (it’s literally a law of the Universe)
  • Clouding our perspective
  • Leading us to jump to conclusions
  • Causing us to assume the worst before truth has had a chance to unfold
  • Creating unnecessary stress

And perhaps most importantly…

Resistance can unravel even the most stable situations—not because of what’s happening, but because of how we’re relating to it.

This doesn’t mean we ignore our feelings or bypass difficulty. It means we become aware of when we are tightening against life instead of allowing it to move.

Because the moment we soften—even slightly—we create space for new possibilities and solutions to emerge.

Rolling With the Changes: A Spiritual Practice

“Rolling with the changes” isn’t about passive acceptance. It’s an active, conscious choice to partner with life rather than resist it.

Here are a few ways to embody that practice:

1. Remember: Life Is Always For You

Even when things feel uncertain—or even difficult—there is always something unfolding for you, not against you.

Every experience holds:

  • A lesson to be learned
  • An opportunity for growth
  • A gentle (or not-so-gentle) nudge to pivot toward something better

When you shift from “Why is this happening to me?” to “What is this here to show me?”—everything begins to change.

2. Ground Yourself in the Present Moment

In times of instability, grounding becomes essential.

Practices like:

  • Meditation
  • Spending time in nature
  • Conscious breathing
  • Placing your hands on the earth

…help regulate your nervous system and reconnect you to something steady and true.

Grounding doesn’t eliminate change—but it gives you a centered place from which to navigate it.

3. Cultivate Community and Deep Relationships

We are not meant to navigate transformation alone.

Now more than ever, it’s important to:

  • Deepen meaningful connections
  • Engage in authentic conversations
  • Surround yourself with people who support your growth

Community becomes an anchor—a place where you can be seen, heard, and held as you evolve.

The Invitation

Change is not coming.

It’s already here.

And while it may not always feel comfortable, it is undeniably purposeful.

Just like the steady rhythm of that REO song from years ago, there is a deeper cadence moving through your life—guiding you, stretching you, inviting you forward.

So take a breath.

Notice where you might be resisting.

Gently soften.

Trust what is unfolding.

And when the moment calls for it…

Roll with the changes.

If this message resonates, take a moment to reflect:

Where in your life are you being called to release resistance and open to something new?

That awareness is the first step toward living the song of your soul.
