Have you ever noticed how certain colors make you feel energized, calm, or even inspired? Colors are more than just visual stimuli—they carry energetic frequencies that can profoundly impact our mind, body, and spirit. As a mind-body-spirit coach and bioenergetic testing practitioner, I love integrating color therapy into my work to help my clients achieve balance and well-being.
Recently, my friend Lisa and I had an amazing experience exploring the effects of color therapy glasses. I wore green, the color of harmony and peace, while Lisa chose violet, the color of spiritual awareness, creativity and transformation. When we put them on, it was as if we had stepped into a new dimension of energy, each hue offering a unique sensation and shift in our emotional states, especially when we were outside looking at nature.
The Science Behind Color Therapy
Color therapy, also known as chromotherapy, is based on the principle that different colors correspond to specific energetic frequencies in the body. Each color resonates with a particular chakra, or energy center, and can help restore balance where needed. Here are a few examples:
- Red: Boosts vitality and stimulates passion and motivation.
- Orange: Encourages creativity and emotional expression.
- Yellow: Enhances clarity, confidence, and joy.
- Green: Promotes healing, balance, and heart-centered energy.
- Aqua: Assists with openness, confidence, and relaxation.
- Blue: Calms the mind and encourages communication.
- Indigo: Increases serenity, imagination, and understanding.
- Violet: Elevates spiritual awareness and deepens intuition.
- Magenta: Promotes relaxation and balances emotions.
- Rose Pink: Calms aggression, relieves stress, and promote appetite suppression.
Through bioenergetic testing, I have seen how imbalances in the body’s energy field can be supported with color therapy. If you’re feeling stuck, anxious, or out of alignment, wearing color therapy glasses or surrounding yourself with specific colors can help shift your energy and bring harmony back into your system.
Our Color Experience
In our experiment, Lisa and I immersed ourselves in the colors we chose. As I wore green, I felt a deep sense of peace and balance wash over me. It was as if I had stepped into nature’s embrace, a gentle reminder to stay open and grounded. Lisa, in violet, described feeling of connection to nature and wonder, as though her thoughts were more attuned to a higher wisdom.
When we later looked at the world through each other’s colors, the experience was even more profound. Seeing through Lisa’s violet glasses gave me a new perspective—a shift toward a more introspective and spiritual state. Likewise, when she put on my green glasses, she felt a renewed sense of balance and healing energy.
What the Research Says
Marketing professionals already know that color matters. For example, red promotes spontaneous purchases and blue is calming. One study even showed that switching to blue lights on a street in Glasgow led to a reduction in crime. According to David Hamilton, PhD in his book, Why Woo Woo Works, the benefits of crystal may be partly tied to their color. Turquoise stones are believed to promote a sense of calmness and it is found that the color turquoise (think of a beautiful Caribbean ocean) eases the nervous system. If you’ve ever had your aura read or had a Kirlian photograph taken of you, you can see how your aura colors relate to your current state of being. Finally, one study showed that blue placebo pills worked 2.5 times better than pink ones. Since blue is a calming color and a calm state positively affects your immune and nervous systems, this makes sense.
