Spiritual coaching is a wonderful way to shift your perspective and in turn, shift your experience of life.  It can be combined with traditional counseling and care or not. Spiritual counseling varies by practitioner. This article discusses how I approach my spiritual counseling sessions and spiritual principle.

In spiritual coaching sessions, we work together to uncover and overcome limiting beliefs, so you can get in touch with and ultimately experience your deepest desires. We discuss your goals and take steps to help you achieve them. After, you may feel inspired, whole, and/or healed. You also may have a shift in perspective leading to a beautiful shift in your life experience.

Any session will be customized to your needs, but I will give an overview here of what the process might look like.

  1. In a session, we first examine your goals. I may ask questions to uncover any blocks. You have the answers inside of you. My job is to help you unlock them through questions and dialogue. Once we uncover any false beliefs that you hold about yourself, someone else, or the world, I may take you through a meditation, guided movement, or another process to heal past trauma and the limiting beliefs. I am only guiding you. You are doing the work. As you have all the answers inside of you, you also have the ability to heal yourself. Believe this and watch it work!
  2. Then we discuss and agree upon your next steps to anchor in the new patterns and positive beliefs about you and your life. This may be taking an action step towards a goal or a daily spiritual practice, such as meditation, prayer, or journaling.
  3. I will end the session with affirmative prayer. Rather than begging or beseeching Spirit (or God, the Universe, Life, Source, or any term you prefer), affirmative prayer connects us with the essence of the God within and asserts positive beliefs about the desired outcome. Affirmative prayer reflects that we are each led to our highest good, despite any temporary appearances that may indicate otherwise. No perceived problem is too big for Spirit. In affirmative prayer, we assert that there is a mental cause for every experience in life. We proactively guide this mental picture to create the life that we want to see and experience.
  4. After the session ends, I encourage you to take steps towards your goal in the form of the “homework” that we discussed in step 2 to show the Universe your commitment to and belief in your desired good. Clients experience positive or optimistic feelings. A shift in perspective can alter your life experience.
